Vodafone 4G Prepaid

Vodafone opens their 4G network to prepaid users today, but there are a few caveats to start with. To be eligible for the initial roll out, you must be an existing prepaid Vodafone customer, and:

  • Have a 4G device;
  • Have an active Prepaid recharge – it’s strongly recommend by Vodafone that you have a plan with more than 500MB data ($30 Cap and above, All Time and Flexi Caps)
  • Live in a Vodafone 4G area

The roll out will be progressive, with Vodafone aiming to have all eligible existing prepaid customers migrated to the 4G network by the end of October. If you have a have a 4G phone – expect to receive a SMS or email from them in the next few days inviting you to join the network.

If you aren’t a Vodafone prepaid customer, then you can sign up from mid November. More information is available at the Vodafone site.

WHAT’S THE POINT OF 4G IF THE DATA IS SO SMALL AND EXPENSIVE. I USE TO BUY $50 TELSTRA AND GET A BONUS 3GB AND BUY A 3GB DATA PACK. SO 6GB FOR $50 ON THE TEXT AND DATA PLAN, BUT THEY ENDED THAT WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME, SO LAST WEEK I RECHARGED AND GOT NO BONUS DATA. BUT NOW THE ONLY PLAN IS THE ENCORE CAP AND $100 FOR 3GB BONUS. BASTARDS. #ROCKING AN XPERIA Z1

Umm. With Vodafone’s $30 cap it gets you 500mb of data and $450 of included data which you can use $16 of it at a time to add an extra 350mb. So, if you used all of your included value for data (let’s face it, you probably won’t use the the credit to call people (texts are free in aus)) you end up with 10.3GB of data that expires in 30 days from when you did your last conversion and rolls on over to your next recharge. Do the same with the $50 prepaid and end up with 22.7GB. Convinced… Read more ยป
