Exynos 5

Not to be outdone by Apple’s 64-bit CPU inside the iPhone 5s, Samsung is looking to power its next-gen flagship device, the Galaxy S5, with an Exynos 64-bit SoC of their own. Korean media is reporting that Samsung have completed the “most complex tasks of the development process and is now dealing with technicalities and logistics.” This is positive news as Samsung previously didn’t believe they’d have the SoC ready in time for the Galaxy S5.

As for Android’s support for 64-bit chips, KitKat is likely to have all the needed changes to ensure they work flawlessly with any 64-bit processors used in future devices. Now we just sit and wait for the release for both the Galaxy S5 or Note 4, and Android KitKat. No rush.

Will Samsung on the G5 running 64bit ever have a battery that will last the day running blue tooth & Wi-Fi with video, gaming and calls in the mix.

Fantastic I can’t wait to experience 64bit touch wiz. Not.

It won’t matter what chip they use, their devices will still lag and jank like they always do. Until they realise their software is a resource junkie it’s going to be the same old story.

Mark

My Note 3 doesn’t lag so I don’t know what you’re on about.

David Klaverstyn

I’m not a fan of TouchWiz but I have not noticed any lag on my Note 3. It’s very smooth.

Danny!

That’s what I said about my S3 then a couple of weeks latter, the stutter began.

I know some people don’t like Exynos due to it not being Dev friendly.

But I’m personally looking forward to this, and next gen chips.
