Moto G Amazon
Motorolas follow up to the Ḿoto X – the Moto G – is widely tipped to be released at their event this week from São Paulo Brazil but it seems that Amazon just can’t wait and has listed the phone for pre-order on their site, the phone has also appeared on Benchmarking site GFXBench listing a Snapdragon 400 under the hood.

GSMInsider has found the phone – Motorola XT1032 – on the GFXBench benchmarking site, where it listed its internals for the world to see. The specs listed include a 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 MSM8226 Quad-Core chipset with an Adreno 305 GPU. Interestingly, Moto G still lists no LTE radio, as has been seen with all leaks of the Moto G to date. The MSM8226 has only been listed with HSPA+ radios built in, it’s conceivable, though not likely that Motorola could add an external LTE radio but we’ll just have to wait and see.

The GFXBench results also list a resolution of 1196×720 meaning the phone will most likely come with an 84 Pixel high set of on-screen softkeys, to get to the expected 1280×720 resolution on a 4.5″screen.

The GFXBench results also list that the phone will be released with Android 4.4, making it possibly the second handset to be launched with Kit Kat pre-installed; something that would put the phone at least a few months ahead of other OEMs who traditionally take around 4-6 months to begin releasing handsets with the latest version of Android installed.

The latest development on the Moto G comes from the product description in a pre-order listing on Amazon UK, that lists the Motorola DVX/XT1032 for pre-order.

From the listing we can guarantee that the rumoured Motorola DVX will indeed be the Moto G, that was listed in the mini-site for the launch in Brazil. The product description associated with the listing on Amazon, definitely lists the phone as the Moto G:

Product Description
Moto G is designed for all the things you want to do-taking and sharing photos, watching videos, checking scores, getting directions, listening to music, you name it. Moto G also gives you choices. Different backs you can switch out to reflect your unique style, and access to more than one million apps on Google Play to create your own mobile experience. Every detail is just how you’d like it.

Specs for the phone are not technical but do shed some light on what we can expect to see on the Thursday morning launch :

  • Sharpest 4.5 HD screen
  • All day quad core speed
  • Advanced Android with guaranteed upgrade
  • Personalize coloured backs

Interesting points –
‘The Advanced Android with guaranteed upgrade’ is an interesting one, which seems to point towards at least one update going out to the handset in future, although with Google’s current stance of phones only receiving 18 months worth of updates, exactly how long these ‘Guaranteed Upgrades’ go for is not certain.

Personalised Coloured Backs – It’s the Nokia 5110 all over again, although that personalisation was definitely a winner for the Finnish company when they launched it and the clamouring of the masses for customisation along the lines of the Moto-Maker options available on the Moto X could possibly make for one hot product when or if it launches in Australia..

All will be revealed on Thursday Morning – Australia Time – so if you’re interested, make sure you head over to the Google+ event page and register your interest. Times for the launch are :

Australia – NSW/Australian Capital Territory/Victoria/Tasmania * Thu 1:00 AM
Australia – Northern Territory – Alice Springs Wed 11:30 PM
Australia – Queensland Midnight Wed-Thu
Australia – South Australia * Thu 12:30 AM
Australia – Western Australia – Eucla Wed 10:45 PM

Will you be joining us for the launch?

I wish Moto would just give us the Moto X and be done with it. This G doesn’t interest me at all. If they released the X here I would have bought one by now, but the crazy mark ups on the importers means that I am left looking to buy a N5 instead. Moto – get your crap together!!! The phone which got you guys the first positive press in years was the X – so freaking let people buy it!!! WTF are you doing getting all this positive press then making the phone unavailable – it’s not rocket… Read more »
