If you’re sick of seeing Siri integration in cars like the newest Holden Commodore or Honda Accord, then you may just want to consider looking at an Audi the next time you look at upgrading the family truckster.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Google and Audi are set to announce a partnership at CES in just over a week, which will see the car manufacturer partner up with Google as well as with chip manufacturers like Nvidia to offer Android based in-car entertainment systems. The in-car entertainment system would allow passengers and drivers to access music, navigation, apps and services like Google Maps, arguably one of the best mapping and navigation services in the world.
Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of management of AUDI AG will be delivering the Tech Titans key note address at CES 2014, where he will be discussing amongst other things ‘infotainment based upon comprehensive connectivity technologies’ from 8:30pm on Monday, January 6 in The Cosmopolitan’s Chelsea Theater in Las Vegas before heading to the Audi Night at CES also at the Chelsea afterwards. It’s highly likely that this announcement could come at either event.
Would an Android based in-car entertainment system make you interested in Audi?
This could spell good things for Android in general… if the system will use Google Maps for navigation then I’d imagine offline maps will only get better on the whole ecosystem in general.
And, Audi being part of the VAG could mean that this deal will trickle to all VAG subsidiaries within a short time.
Google maps is the best , but wish there it’s offline navigation like Nokia maps. It is still no 1
As long as this is not an exclusive deal. I’m still dreaming of one day being driven around in my driverless Nexus Lexus.
Similar to chromecast/google tv? Assumung you just sign into your google account and tether it to your phone.

I just wonder how will they integrate the connectivity allowing for the various versions of Android on devices?
