Samsung
While the worlds tech community is starting to turn their attention towards Barcelona Spain for the beginning of Mobile World Congress, it seems Samsung could have a Chromebook announcement for us shortly. US Online retailer BHPhotoVideo has begun taking pre-orders for two new Samsung Chromebooks.

There’s not a huge amount of information about the two models, apart from screen size – 11.6″ and 13.3″ – and the name which the two models will be called the Samsung Chromebook 2.

The 11.6″ model is listed for pre-order for US$299.99 and will be powered by the Samsung in-house custom Exynos SoC. There will be colour options with the site listing Black or White as options and both will contain a 16GB SSD.

The 13.3″ Samsung Chromebook 2 has little listed apart from screen size and 4GB of RAM with a US$399.99 price tag.

These new models are the first since the Series 3 Chromebook was released back in 2012. There was rumours that Samsung was looking to release a more premium model Chromebook later this year, so perhaps these models could be an interim release to compete with the new releases from other new Chromebook manufacturers who are currently entering the growing Chromebook market.

Unfortunately the Live Chat on the site is closed so we can’t try to get an arrival date on the two new models but we will be contacting Samsung to find out any further information we can.

Why OEMs cannot load Android on notebooks, instead of Chrome OS? Any reason?
Android has Quick Office and all other apps.

1) Predominance of portrait-oriented Android apps.
2) Poor support for windowed apps in stock Android.

All things said, I’d love it if Chrome and Android cross-pollinate more.

Android AIOs are already on sale, so why shouldn’t there also be Droidbooks? The AIOs are landscape and they work just fine. Should be able to do the same on Droidbooks.

Both is better.
