The Galaxy S5 has under 24 hours until it’s expected to make its first official public appearance but that just means that there are units around and keeping them off the radar of just about every tech journalist in the world is almost impossible. Now, an Instagram video has shown up which is intending to show off the just announced Gear 2 but instead shows off three phones in the background that are possibly the un-announced Galaxy S5.
The video shows the Gear 2 but it’s the Gold, Black and White phones lying face down in the background that mostly have our attention. While the Instagram video was pulled, new Twitter leaker @gadgetleaks has mirrored the video on Youtube after it was spotted by Taylor Wimberly – former editor of AndroidandMe.
While it’s possible these could be unreleased variants of the Galaxy S4, it’s highly unlikely. The video is seemingly shot at a Samsung demo booth so the appearance of other new Samsung devices would be possible.

I hate gold phones and the fact that so many so many Android OEMs are doing it after the iPhone, reinforcing the stereotype that they’re incapable of having an original thought.
It really is embarrassing as an Android user/fan.
Last year Apple do a gold phone along with two-tone camera flashes, and now both Samsung and HTC do a gold phone with two-tone camera flashes.
Apple are leaders and innovators, but that doesn’t mean you just blindly follow everything they do. Samsung will never be a leader in tech if they constantly just follow Apple.
So your saying that HTC/Samsung should not include things that Apple already has? despite it being possibly a benefit to the end user? I guess they should not of include a touchscreen since Apple has released a phone with touchscreen /s
Besides, Nokia had dual flash way before the iphone 5S with their Lumia’s

What’s really funny is that it is actually Apple who copied Android phone manufacturers in releasing stock gold coloured smartphones.
The grey-market Japanese phone reseller, Kyoex, lists a number of DOCOMO Android phones from the 2011-2012 season, which were done in gold.
Apple took that design colour and bought it to the west.
And now, we are seeing the other manufacturers jumping on the gold bandwagon.

Agreed — Android OEMs are generally not innovative. By using Android, the OEMs have outsourced their software innovation to Google. And there’s not a lot that the OEMs can do to innovate on the hardware side.
So another year of a recycled Galaxy S3 design? *yawn*
Looks like the same plastic build, same Samsung rehash. But I bet it’s got a whole bunch of useless gimmick addons, so that makes it all new and exciting, right?
Samsung have lost their passion for making great devices. That’s if you believe they even had passion in the first place.
It’s not so much the fact that Samsung have “lost passion”, but more the fact that their competencies are in manufacturing, distribution and marketing, rather than in product design. The Galaxy series has never been definitively better than its competitors.
Can’t say I’m not a little disappointed if this was it. All they needed was a design and UI refresh – not another feature-packing exercise. OTOH this has opened up the playing field for other OEMs to shine this year however, which is going to be exciting.
Have to agree.. Needs a complete redesign or won’t do any better than the S4.. Really hoping for a uni body metal design
At the end of the day, I feel it’s going to be the same again this year. HTC and Sony struggling financially, while Samsung sells the most out of the OEMS but falls short of expected sales.
