September is the time of year when the international press gather in Berlin for IFA. It’s where Samsung has released their Note series phones and this year looks to be no different, with Samsung rumoured to launch the Note 4, but it won’t be alone, with Samsung rumoured to also be launching their Google Glass competitor – Gear Glass.

What is interesting this year is that an unnamed Samsung executive has advised that Samsung will announce two versions of the Galaxy Note 4. Not only will they have different processors this time, but they will also differ visually.

The unnamed executive has stated that:

The Note 4 will have two versions ― one with a curved OLED display for niche markets and the other a flat OLED display for mass marketing.

Of course this isn’t the first time Samsung has toyed with curved displays. They previously had announced the Samsung Galaxy Round, however the Galaxy Round seemingly wasn’t taken seriously by Samsung, as they released it only in Korea. Their fellow countrymen LG, however launched their G Flex internationally and it seems to have gained a following, thanks to its ergonomic design.

A Galaxy Note 4 with a curved display, even if such a device is for one niche markets, would certainly be a significant statement on Samsung’s part. It would also match up with statements from Samsung executives that the next Note will have an all new form factor.

In addition to the Galaxy Note 4 and Note 4 curved, it is also rumoured, that Samsung will also announce a competing product to Google’s headmounted Glass accessory. Samsung has already applied for trademark on the name Gear Blink in various markets, and it’s this name which is rumoured to be the final one for the product.

Samsung is also expected to launch an array of connected home accessories and appliances at IFA such as home security and energy management.

With under 3 months till IFA 2014 Berlin, it will be interesting to see what Samsung will bring and announce, but we will be bringing you all the action of IFA here at Ausdroid, so stay tuned for more.

Will it be waterproof? I always use my phone in the shower

I wish they’d just release one model for everyone in the world like Apple does with their phones.

But the beauty of android is choice. Not everyone wants exactly the same.

No, I don’t mean every brand. I mean Samsung in particular. They release so many variants of the same model of phone. Can be bad for updates.
