Note Edge
At IFA, in September Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 4, as well as a slightly modified version of the phone with a curved side display called the Galaxy Note Edge. The Note 4 went on sale on the fourth of November, but just four days ago, Samsung announced that the Note Edge was delayed for a second time, with stock due in stores from the 25th of November. But, even with a release date still a couple of weeks away, today you can pre-order the phone from Optus.

The Note Edge is similarly priced to the Note 4, although slightly higher, with plans beginning at $71 per month ($35 My Plan Plus + $36 handset repayment), which includes Up to 300 mins of phone calls, 500MB of data and Unlimited SMS. But there’s other options if you would like more data, calls or SMS.

Optus Note Edge Plans

The Optus Note Edge will come with exclusive access to the NewLoop Breaking News ticker. Newsloop is made by Singtel, Optus’ parent company, so ‘Exclusive’ is a relative term. NewsLoop allows you to set your own categories of news you want to follow and change layouts to match your screen size or preferences. It’s not clear whether the NewsLoop ticker will run on the curved side edge of the Note Edge but it would be a good fit.

The phone will also be turning up on the Telstra network, but they have yet to announce pre-orders and as they did with the Note 4 pre-orders, they will probably not show up until quite close to the November 25th launch date. Vodafone has already begun pre-sales on the Note Edge a few weeks back and you can check it out on their website. The Note Edge is also available outright from the Samsung Experience store for $1249.

Are you going to purchase the Galaxy Note Edge?

Waiting for Telstra to announce details & will then decide if to go on a plan with them or buy outright.

A shame the Edge won’t work with Gear VR – Samsung Australia confirmed it will only work with the Note 4.
