Google Mattel
Mattel and Google have been sending out invites to an event to be held in New York on the 13th of February.

The event, whose invite features the silhouette of the classic Viewmaster cartridges, is for an ‘exclusive announcement’ and product debut. With the tagline ‘view what’s possible’, it seems to be hinting at some sort of product that involves the viewmaster, or at least something similar – perhaps ‘cardboardish’?

Google Mattel Invite

There’s been a number of 3D-printed and plastic manufactured versions of cardboard floating around third-party manufacturers since Google launched it as essentially a throw-away at Google I/O last year. A more consumer friendly version, perhaps made of more kid-durable plastic version from a company associated with childrens education and entertainment would be a good move for Google who is apparently working on child-friendly versions of their apps.

What is to be announced isn’t clear, but there’s plenty of speculation, hopefully we’ll hear more soon.
What do you think Google and Mattel will announce?

My son has seen me playing with cardboard and often wants to ‘see’ (put it up to his face). He thinks it’s great, even though there is no phone in it and all you see is a blurry mess.
