HTC One Variant
We’ve just been introduced to the HTC One M9, the latest and greatest from the Taiwan based manufacturer and it’s been pretty well received so far. But is that the only version? Speculation mounted, due in part to a tweet from notorious leaker @evleaks, which showed a second model of the M9 in a larger size with what Evan posited was a fingerprint scanner. That device wasn’t announced at Mobile World Congress, but it could possibly have shown up in the wild.

There’s the possibility that the phone is the supposed HTC One M9 Plus, an M9 variant called the HTC One M9 Eye, a HTC One E9 or even just a plain old prototype of the HTC One M9 that didn’t make the final grade.
The phone shows an Aluminium unibody design as found on the HTC One M9, but what it actually is, isn’t clear.

The rumoured specs for the M9 Plus include options for either an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6795 processor clocked at 2GHz or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 as used in the M9 – further speculation lists a slightly larger 5.2″ QHD screen, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage with Android 5.0 running Sense Seven – and finally of course, fingerprint scanner.

What it is, will probably become clear over time, or if it never shows up we’ll know that it’s most likely a prototype.

What do you think it is?

Looks more like an early DVT prototype than a new variant.
