HTC One M9 Teardown
As usual the guys over at iFixit have gotten their hands on a high-end flagship and stripped it down to the chasis to find out what makes it tick. It’s all in a good cause, because iFixit will now start supplying guides and parts to repair your baby, but from the looks of things you may not want to, with iFixit assigning the HTC One M9 a repairability score of just 2 out of 10.

The 2 out of 10 score isn’t a surprise for HTC though, with last years model, the HTC One M8 also scoring a 2 out of 10. The score was issued due to a number of factors that make the phone hard to repair. For starters, the battery is hidden away under the motherboard making it hard to replace, the display can’t be easily replaced without going through the entire phone, HTC has used a lot of high-end adhesives to stick components in place. There is some good news though with some ‘design streamlining’, making some components easier to access.

It’s a pretty low score but fine for people in the US who have the HTC Advantage ‘Uh Oh’ protection, but for everyone else the advice is simple: Don’t drop it, you wouldn’t like it when it’s dropped.

Have you had to have your HTC One M8 or M9 repaired? How was the experience?
