Mad_Forum
After yesterday talking about the processor they would use in the upcoming OnePlus 2, OnePlus are mad, fuming in fact according to Carl Pei and it’s over speculation on the price of the phone and whether it will overheat.

Despite going into extensive details about the processor yesterday, it seems that there’s still some doubt over the companies ability to deliver a phone with a Snapdragon 810 processor without overheating issues. In this latest forum post, OnePlus has expanded on their plans for the processor, stating they will be under clocking the processor to 1.8GHz rather than the full 1.98GHz the processor is capable of.

Apparently since their original post, there has also been some discussion round the internet on price. Though no price was announced, OnePlus did say that the phone will cost more than US$322. The original OnePlus One launched at US$299 for the 16GB model and US$349 for the 64GB model, but OnePlus hasn’t announced whether the ‘2’ will have 16GB or 64GB storage, even at 16GB storage the $322 price tag is slightly elevated, this is due to the more expensive processor.

OnePlus has advised that the Snapdragon 810 is 60% more expensive than the 801 in the original OnePlus One and they won’t be receiving any discounts on the processor. Not a huge surprise given volume discounts on processors are generally given to OEMs who move large quantities of units – bear in mind OnePlus only moved around 1 million units of the original phone – impressive, but not in the realm of Samsung, LG or even HTC.

OnePlus remain confident in the OnePlus 2 and we’re sure to hear more about it in the coming weeks and possibly months leading up to the Q3 launch. Once it’s launched and we can get hands-on with the phone then we can see exactly how well OnePlus has engineered the 2.

Oh, and that phone in the picture, it’s a ‘heavily Photo-shopped OnePlus 2 – does it look big to you?
