OnePlus 2 Fingerprint
The inexorable roll towards their July 27th launch continues with a new specification announced for the One Plus 2, this time announcing a fingerprint scanner.

The fingerprint scanner for the OnePlus 2 won’t just be a ‘tacked on’ extra either with forum regular Pete announcing that it will be fast and ‘done right’. How fast?:

With the OnePlus 2, the fingerprint sensor is done right. It’s refined and lightning quick, unlocking your device faster than TouchID. The average person checks their phone over 200 times per day. If you spend just three seconds inputting a PIN number or pattern, that’s over an hour of your time gone each week.

The fingerprint scanner will have up to 5 fingerprint profiles – one for each finger – meaning you should be able to unlock instantly with any finger on your dominant hand.

The fingerprint scanner of course leads to the conclusion that we’ll see Android M on the phone at some stage, and with OnePlus sticking fairly close to AOSP with their OxygenOS so far, we should see an implementation of the Android Fingerprint scanner API announced at Google I/O last month.

The OnePlus 2 is shaping up to be a real contender even with a higher price point, but most people are sitting back waiting for more details on the all important camera; something that this year has a heavy importance, with great smartphone cameras from LG and Samsung on the market. We’ll soon find out, stay tuned.
