PocketCasts Web Player
One of our favourite developers Shifty Jelly has added a new trick to their Pocket Casts web player in the latest update, announcing native Chromecast support.

It’s not Android as such, but many of us certainly do transition from the Pocket Casts Android app to the web player when we get to work and that seamless transition is fantastic. The updated webplayer, available at play.pocketcasts.com, brings native Chromecast support for those using Chrome, as well as the ability to star episodes according to the release notes:

Version 1.1

June 30, 2015

  • You’ve always been a star, we know that. But now your episodes can be too! Collect all your favorites in the side bar.
  • What else does a star need? A platform! Chromecast to your television for that big screen experience (Chrome only, no one ever got famous by running IE).
  • While your stunt double does all the hard work, why not kick back, sort your your episodes in reverse order and find a good story podcast to listen to.

If you haven’t tried out the web player for Pocket Casts, be warned having constant access to your podcasts can be dangerous.

Next we would like to see Android TV support! Make it happen kids, make it happen! Would even be willing to pay an “Inapp purchase price” to add it. Or maybe a Kickstarter to pay for development of it and also gage interest!
