In the slow drip run up to their July 27th Virtual launch of the OnePlus 2, OnePlus has already announced the processor they’ll be using and why, now they’ve announced that the phone will come with 4GB of RAM.

The OnePlus 2 will have a 64-bit CPU, so with the ability to address higher amounts of RAM, OnePlus is taking advantage of it. With DDR4 RAM the OnePlus 2 will be able to launch games and apps faster (up to twice as fast as DDR3 RAM), or in OnePlus words:

Another notable benefit is lower power consumption for better battery efficiency. That means you’ll be able to use your favorite apps (and more) without draining the battery. With LPDDR4, you get twice the bandwidth performance as the LPDDR3 at the same power consumption profile. The RAM of the OnePlus 2 uses a lower operating voltage than its predecessor, decreasing from 1.2V to 1.1V. And with speeds up to 32 GB/s, it is also twice as fast as the LPDDR3. It offers optimal support for power-saving low frequency mode that brings clock speeds down when performing those everyday and necessary tasks.

There’s not a lot of time left between now and the actual launch, but with OnePlus still not telling us anything about that Camera, Screen and Radios, we can expect them to ramp up that slow-drip to a slightly faster drip shortly.

That’s cool and all but it’s more important how they manage that ram. I’m on the Galaxy S6 at the moment with 3gb ram but every time I switch to a different Chrome tab, it has to refresh the page. It’s pretty ridiculous.

touchwiz needs all that ram and moar!!!

i am a lot more eager on the one plus this year as i know it and the slow drip feed of info, pity that there is no australian launch or this would be my next phone.

I think OnePlus are handling the marketing of this device brilliantly. I didn’t pay much attention to the OPO. But with this slow drip of news, it keeps OP2 in the news constantly.

I think the opposite, all the bits of barely news have almost made me switch off to anything OnePlus. Between this, the invite system and SD810, I’m definitely not getting the OP2.

Level380

Its great marketing for sure, but the invite system will screw it up again just like last year! That and the fact they don’t SHIP to Aus makes it a bit meh

Just get it on ebay? That’s how I got mine, no messing with invites, no worries since.

Level380

You pay a LARGE premium getting it via ebay…. even more so when its a new release!

Adam Mazur MDIA

actually price was about the same at the time, as buying locally from OP would’ve been.

Level380

Guessing you only just brought it? Cause the first 6 months of the OPO release the phones had a heavy premium. The OPO2 will be mega costly for ages!

Adam Mazur MDIA

nope, bought it in early September 🙂
