Evan Blass, better known by his Twitter pseudonym Evleaks, has revealed six colours for HTC’s rumoured upcoming Aero – also rumoured to be known as the One A9. The phone is due for a Q4 release according to leaks over the last few months, pouring a little fuel on the rumours of a premium high-end HTC release for the back half of this year.
The colours, seen above, are Acid Gold, Opal Silver, Deep Garnet, Carbon Grey, Rose Gold and Cast Iron. For me, it’s the Carbon Grey and Cast Iron colours that are most appealing based on today’s leak, but these colours could look rather different in the hand.
The design of the handset also seems to match up with previous rumours, bearing a fair similarity to a rather more fruit-like device.
From an earlier tweet last week, we have Evan’s spec list. It reads like an unremarkable but solid performer, with Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 617 making the cut in lieu of the previously-rumoured MediaTek Helios chip. The phone’s 7mm thickness somewhat belies its midrange chipset though, and the addition of a fingerprint sensor is also notable in this class.

That Q4 release window is November according to Evan, making it unlikely that the Aero will be the subject of this month’s Japanese launch (think Butterflies). We also don’t know if the phone will be coming to Australia – notably, the One E8 and One M9+ have sailed past our shores in pursuit of different markets, so the One A9 could well do the same.
The addition of a new phone in the HTC One family is nothing to be sneezed at, with One-branded devices going into itc HTC Advantage program – this earns a number of additional promises around software updates, free Google Drive storage, cloud backup services, live help and (if you’re in the US) a replacement program for busted screens.
With Qualcomm’s midrange chipset, thin metallic construction and a decent camera, HTC could be onto something here if the price is right.

small battery is dissapointing
Loooooool “acid gold”. That sounds so unappealing
As a loyal HTC customer, the possible specifications listed above will not encourage me to ditch my HTC One M8s. The specifications are almost identical with the exception of the fingerprint scanner. I think I will go along with @pukeyluke:disqus and say it is rather boring.
If htc didn’t go with the Toshiba camera sensor and instead went with a Sony and added ois for the m9, I would of been rocking the hell out of this it would of been the near perfect phone.
