Dell has been dabbling in the Chromebook market for a number of years now, but haven’t released a model here in Australia. That has now changed, with Dell now offering their Chromebook 11 3120 on their Australian website.
The Dell Chromebook 11 3120 comes in touch and non-touch screen models, with the non-touch screen model starting at $478.50, while the touch activated model will set you back $598.95.
The models are outwardly the same in terms of design with a rugged exterior that’s MIL-STD tested ensuring it’s ready for the busy, active life of a student with protection for drops, spills on the keyboard and track pad, vibration, heat, humidity, dust and dirt. The Chromebook 11 comes with an 11.6″ 1366×768 resolution screen with the touch screen covered by super tough, scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass NBT.
One of the neater tricks of the Chromebook 11 is the 180-degree LCD hinge which will lets the screen lay flat on a table allowing it to become the centre of attention for projects.
Under the hood though are some subtle differences, with the cheaper non-touch model coming with 2GB of RAM, while the higher end model comes with 4GB of RAM. Both models are powered by an Intel Celeron N2840 Processor and come with 16GB of eMMC storage but with a SD/Multi Card Slot to expand the storage and as a bonus the Chromebook 11 comes with 200GB of Google Drive storage for 2 years via redemption.
The Chromebook 11 has an array of connectivity options including Intel Dual Band Wireless 802.11AC + BT 4.0 LE. Users will get a USB 3.0 with BC1.2 charging as well as a USB 2.0 and HDMI 1.4 port.
Rounding out the specs are a 720p HD video webcam, 3 cell 43 WHr Battery, 3 color LED light and of course Stereo headphone and microphone combo jack .
The Dell Chromebook 11 3120 can be purchased from the Dell website now with a full 1-year warranty, with shipping in 6 – 8 business days.
Wow that’s pretty awesome. Have really enjoyed our HP Chromebook for the family – and I’ve never had to do tech support on it!
Would’ve preferred the price of the Dell to be closer to $399 and a 13″ option at $499.
I love my Toshiba Chromebook 2 so won’t be upgrading any time soon, but I wouldn’t having the Dell’s better hinge. Mine doesn’t open very much, it’s actually maxed out all the time.
I’m not sure I like the 11in size either. I’ve grown accustom to my 13.3in friend.
I would also be nice to have 4gb of ram. Mine only has 2gb which is great for most things, but there’s a fair bit of stutter when I’m looking at and playing around with raw photos I take.
Any news on when Dell will release their new Chromebook Range that goes up against the Pixel?
