Samsung has something Galaxy shaped being announced this week, with a launch event scheduled in New York city for 5pm Thursday afternoon.

The event is of course a little too early for a ‘Note’ announcement, with Evan Blass hinting at another August announcement for what could be a Galaxy Note 7, which will put the Note and Galaxy S series on the same model/release schedule. The tagline of ‘Go, Move, Explore, Create with Galaxy’ hints at possibly a Samsung Gear Fit or Perhaps fitness tracking of some sort.

If it is the Gear Fit 2, SamMobile overnight released details on the specs of that fitness band which is believed to have a 1.55″ 216×432 pixel resolution SuperAMOLED display, a dual-core 1GHz processor with 2GB of storage, 512MB of RAM and a 200mAh battery all in a case with IP68 water/dustproofing. Of course the use of the word ‘Galaxy’ in the event description used to mean an Android product was coming, but since the launch of the windows packing Galaxy TabPro S series, that naming convention doesn’t mean as much any more.

With the event at 5pm on the 2nd of June in New York, this of course means you’ll be able to find out what’s being announced at 7am AEST on Friday morning here in Australia.
