Since before school I’ve known how to count, 1 2 3 4 5, 6 7 8 9 10 (11 12). Apparently Samsung’s Galaxy Note team didn’t get that memo, as the successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 5 has been rumoured to be the Galaxy Note 7. If a leaked teaser for the device published by Phone Arena is correct it looks like that is in fact the case.

All jokes aside, the “skipping” of a version number could be a good idea to get both the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines into numeric sync. The leaked screen grab contains an image that looks like a phone with curved edges, a stylus, and light bleeding through behind the device forming the silhouette of the number 7. The teaser also includes the text “Write on the edge of something great”.

Obviously, a bad pun this could be referring to the Note 7 coming with dual curved edges. Is it possible that they would abandon a model without the curved front panel? If previous rumours are correct that won’t be the case this year at least. From we have been able to glean from previous leaks and rumours the Note 7 is currently shaping up to have:

  • 5.8″ AMOLED display
  • QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution
  • Snapdragon 823 or a Exynos 8890 chipset
  • 6GB RAM
  • 32GB internal Storage
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • MicroSD Slot
  • USB-C connector

We’ve still got a few months until the Note line is due for its annual reveal so we should all expect a few more weeks of leaks and teases ahead.

They are doing this to match with the next iphone name
