Optus has today added another X series device to their line up of pre-paid mobiles, launching the Optus X Smart priced at the budget end of the range for $129.

The X Series, which was launched late last year by Optus after it had partnered with Alcatel (a subsidiary of TCL) consists of re-badged Alcatel devices, the Optus X Sleek is a re-badged Alcatel Shine Lite, while this latest phone is an Alcatel Pop 4+. We reviewed the X Sleek last year and found it offered premium value at a quite reasonable price, so we have high hopes for the X Smart.

So for $129, what are you exactly getting? Well lets have a look shall we? Here is the full spec rundown of what the Optus X Smart is packing:

For a sub $150 phone, based simply on the specs, I would say its actually not too bad. The proof though of how it goes with daily usage, but that’s another whole other story.

The Optus X Smart is available through Your local Optus Yes shop or online for the price of $129 outright or $32.25 per fortnight for 8 weeks (4 fortnights) through Afterpay. A reminder though, the device is locked to the Optus network and unlocking fees apply to network unlock it. Generally though any Optus pre-paid phone could be used with other Optus providers like Dodo Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Coles Pre-paid, OVO mobile or Exeter just to name a few.
