Google launched podcasts in Google Play Music for residents of the US and Canada almost 12 months ago, although they haven’t expanded to Australia (or elsewhere) they have now launched their own podcast called City Soundtracks.

The podcast is original content and offers subscribers with access a ‘look’ at the music tastes from cities around the world. The first three episodes have been put up for those in the US or Canada which are available via Google Play. But that’s not saying you can’t listen to the podcast, the podcast has been added to iTunes and you can also subscribe to the feed in Pocket Casts by going to pca.st/eKbY.

The first three episodes, which range from 11 to 15 minutes in length are now up and feature exclusive interviews with Spoon, Kehlani and Big Freedia. The bands/artists featured in each episode will be from a different city:

  • Episode 1: Spoon – Austin, Texas
  • Episode 2: Big Freedia – New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Epsiode 3: Kehlani – Oakland, California

The trailer for City Soundtracks has been posted to YouTube so you can get an idea of what it’s like.

If you’re on the lookout for a new podcast and are into Music why not try this one out.

I listened to one of them yesterday through BeyondPod and annoyingly they make reference to accompanying playlists for each episode that you can find on the Play Music app, but they don’t seem to be international.
