Huawei Australia has today announced that they’ve brought on board a new CEO, with Mr Meng Xiaojie starting immediately as Chief Executive Officer.

As a company, Huawei routinely rotates their executive staff to bring innovation and drive performance in local markets. Outgoing CEO Mr Zhao Xichu who came on board in February 2014 brought about a number of innovations in Australia including opening their first National Training and Innovation Centre in 2015, growing their incubator program for undergraduate students, ‘Seeds of the Future’ and launching Australia’s first NB-IoT laboratory at James Cook University in Cairns last month.

Mr Meng, says that he looks forward to moving ahead with Huawei Australia’s 4.5G and 5G journey. as well as delivering NB-IoT solutions for the energy, utilities, transportation and agriculture industries. Mr Meng also went on to speak about their intention to continue their brand awareness push, saying

We also need to continue to raise our brand awareness, especially this year as we launch industry leading high-end consumer devices like Huawei P10 and Huawei Watch 2.0 in Australia.

Interestingly, there’s no mention of the P10 Plus which was announced alongside both the P10 and Huawei Watch 2 at Mobile World Congress. The larger phone option hasn’t been given much play here previously, likely due to the popularity of the Mate series of phones.

No dates have been given for the launch of the Huawei P10 or the Huawei Watch 2 in Australia, but we hope to see them soon. You can see Chris’ review of the Huawei P10 here, and hands-on impressions of the Huawei Watch 2 (and LG’s latest Android Wear watches) here.

Need that p10 plus, you hear me Huawei? If you want to build brand awareness you need to bring all options for all comersโ€‹. Even if it costs you a bit.
