JB Hi-Fi’s foray into the world of digital content distribution is coming to an end with their final JB Hi-Fi Now service, JB Hi-Fi Video Now, shutting its doors on April 13th.

JB Hi-Fi jumped into digital distribution with Book, Video and Music services in 2013 but have slowly shut each service down over the last couple of years. Today, JB Hi-Fi started emailing customers of the service to advise the shutdown of the service would go into effect next month.

JB Hi-Fi Video Now offered customers access to digital copies of movies purchased on DVD or Blu-Ray. JB Hi-Fi is quick to assure customers that once the shutdown kicks in next month the Ultra-Violet content will continue to be available through www.myuv.com.

With their service no longer operating after April 13th, JB Hi-Fi is recommending Flixster Video as an alternative service . Flixster Video has an Android app in Google Play which allows you to access your Ultra Violet catalogue from anywhere.

You can still buy DVD and Blu-Ray discs from JB Hi-Fi but it appears that their online distribution aspirations are over. If you’re a member of the service it’s time to check out some alternatives.

Sad to see for those who bought content. Pretty much at this point the only services you can rely on is google, apple, amazon and I guess Sony for digital media purchases.

If you want to own, you’re better off sticking with BluRay and transferring it to a media server.
