In the footsteps of other high-end watchmakers and fashion labels earlier this year, fashion house Louis Vuitton has announced they too are getting into the smartwatch game with the Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon.

The Tambour Horizon, like the rest of the Louis Vuitton range, will carry a premium price with a stainless steel model being priced at $2,450 while a black option will also be available for $2,900USD. Beyond the looks, the Tambour Horizon will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage with a 300 mAh battery. The watch has a 1.2″ round display with a 390×390 resolution display encased in a 42mm body.

There’s no mention of heart-rate monitor, GPS or other sports related sensors, but it is water resistant to 30 metres so you can at least shower or swim with it. This is Louis Vuitton so it’s more a fashion accessory than anything else though at 12.5mm thick it’s still a fairly fat watch, but you can change bands on it, so you can choose from 60 odd watch bands – 30 for men, 30 for women – to accessorise your watch.

The Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon will run Android Wear 2.0, and be pre-loaded with a bunch of proprietary watch faces as well as pre-installed apps: MyFlight and City Guide.

There’s no information available on whether the Tambour Horizon is coming to Australia, but we’ll put the feelers out just in case.
