Google has been focusing on improving content discovery in Google Play of late, adding an ‘Android Excellence’ focus to the Play store to highlight games and apps. Today, Google is introducing new editorial pages to their Editors Choice letting you know about more quality apps and games.

The sections are divided into categories – fitness, buying and selling, puzzle games etc. – with a short description about each category at the top of the page. Each app or game you see listed has a top 3 reasons why it’s been chosen to be highlighted in the category. Google is making the editorial pages and focuses available on both desktop and mobile with a good looking interface that’s easy to read on either.

The app categories are available in Canada, Great Britain, Japan, South Korea, the U.S and of course Australia and here’s list of the different categories (with links) so you can check them out:

Google is pitting these as helpful categories for travel, and there’s quite a few good apps in there – as well as some games to keep you busy while travelling on a train or maybe to give the kids something to do on a long car trip. These additional focuses certainly add value to customers, allowing you to find new, well designed apps and games easily. I’ll be checking back regularly here and so should you.

Did you find any new apps or games you hadn’t seen previously?
