At IFA this morning, Samsung has unveiled their new range of wearables which include the Gear Fit2 Pro, Gear Sport and their updated wireless IconX earphones.

Samsung has brought improved heart-rate tracking with both the Gear Sport and Gear Fit2 Pro which they say is real-time information. Both devices also include GPS tracking and are powered by Samsung’s Tizen operating system.

Both the Gear Fit2 Pro and Gear Sport have improved durability with mil-spec (MIL STD 810G) construction that includes enhanced water resistance up to 5 ATM which is paired with new swim tracking features from Speedo. Both devices can track lap count, lap time, stroke type and more.

As well as swimming, there is improved device auto-detection so both can tell when you’re Walking, Running, Cycling or performing what Samsung calls “Dynamic Activities” which includes anything from dancing to basketball.

The big news here for sports enthusiasts who enjoy listening to music while they work out is support for offline Spotify support. Spotify is a massively popular service for a number of people and Samsung is bringing this great feature to both the Gear Fit2 Pro and Gear Sport.

Gear Sport

Gear Sport

The Gear Sport is the more traditional sports watch, with a fully round display and a rotating bezel for control similar to other Gear S watches. There’s support to easily change bands with 20mm straps fitting the device. The Gear Sport also includes NFC with support for Samsung Pay.

Gear Fit2 Pro

Gear Fit2 Pro

The Gear Fit2 Pro is a decent upgrade from previous Gear Fit bands, available in black or red, the device has an improved watch like strap, but it can’t be changed. It’s got a decent 1.5″ display, and all the features you’d like from a sports tracker.

Gear Icon X

Samsung has also unveiled new Icon X wireless earbuds. They’ve got built-in memory so you can store music on them for listening on your commute, or you can just use them as bluetooth earphones connected to your phone, tablet or laptop.

The Icon X also comes with Bixby support (of course they do). Samsung says that with a ‘simple tap and hold of the earbud you can use your voice to control your music or your phone – without even having it in your hand.’
