As hinted at a few weeks back, and seen by a lucky few over the last week – Google Lens is coming to the Assistant on Pixel phones.

Google Lens was announced back at Google I/O and remained a Pixel 2 exclusive feature for just a few weeks before it started appearing in Photos for gen 1 Pixel owners. It will now appear in Google Assistant for both Pixel and Pixel 2 phones, but Google hasn’t announced if/when it will appear for Nexus owners.

Things that Google Lens can do include:

  • Text: Save information from business cards, follow URLs, call phone numbers and navigate to addresses.
  • Landmarks: Explore a new city like a pro with your Assistant to help you recognize landmarks and learn about their history.
  • Art, books and movies: Learn more about a movie, from the trailer to reviews, right from the poster. Look up a book to see the rating and a short synopsis. Become a museum guru by quickly looking up an artistโ€™s info and more. You can even add events, like the movie release date or gallery opening, to your calendar right from Google Lens.
  • Barcodes: Quickly look up products by barcode, or scan QR codes, all with your Assistant.

Announced on their blog earlier today, Google has said that Lens will appear over the next few weeks in the Google Assistant on Pixel phones in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, India and Singapore. It’s not showing up here for us yet, but hopefully you can see it soon on your phone.
