Online marketplace eBay has today announced a new Gift Finder Tool powered by the Google Assistant that will help you with the yearly chore of finding presents.

It’s a busy time of year, the shops are filled with frazzle people fighting over car parking and other little things in a bid to find the perfect gift. eBay on the other hand is also busy, with an expected 2.7 million people set to visit eBay.com.au today alone, but there’s a lot less hassle, plenty of time left still to ship your gifts to you.

The new Gift Finder Tool available today, builds on their recent release of the eBay Google Assistant app. Simply asking ‘Hey Google, ask eBay to find a gift’ will prompt the eBay Assistant app to guide you through a series of fun questions to find the perfect gift, once you’re done you can purchase and move on to the next person.

Gavin Dennis, eBay’s Chief Financial Officer and Head of Retail Insights said

We are launching the eBay Gift Finder today, because we know there’s always that one person who is difficult to buy for and we want to simplify the process, helping people when they don’t know where to start.

eBay will be running deals across their hottest categories including electronics, liquor, fashion and toys today, so it’s worthwhile checking out what’s on offer. There’s also price protections built-in to ensure you always get the cheapest price while you’re there, with eBay promising ‘if you buy on eBay and then find it for less on an Approved Competitor’s website, we’ll match the difference’ – that’s pretty good.

This is the 18th year that eBay has been operating in Australia, with more than 40,000 Australian businesses online and ready to take your order, maybe it’s time to skip the stores this Christmas season and get the shopping done with your voice.
