With Google’s Android Oreo update now having been in the wild for almost 5 months now, Android’s biggest hardware maker, Samsung hasn’t exactly been forthcoming about which of their devices will be receiving an update. Now, the team over at XDA-Developers has pulled together a list of devices which could be in line, based on data garnered from the Beta Oreo update for the Galaxy S8/S8+.

To date, the only Samsung device receiving the update is the Galaxy S8/S8+ which has seen a beta release which may be heading to gold shortly. That Beta update contained a list of XML files which hint at a fairly extensive list of handsets and tablets that may be getting a tasty treat in the future. The XML files contain the internal code-names for devices, and while it’s not guarantee, it’s a fairly well educated guess.

The list includes:

  • Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 (a3y17)
  • Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 (a5y17)

At this stage, neither Optus, Telstra or Vodafone list an Oreo update even for the Galaxy S8/S8+ is even in testing, but that’s not to say it hasn’t been received. Samsung is still keeping the Oreo update for the phones in Beta at this time, but once it gets gold status then the Australian carriers will likely receive the software to begin their testing. Once that’s done, it’s like we’ll see more handsets with the update start appearing.
