Update:Optus has removed the information about the HTC One M9, however it’s still visible that it was in testing on their last blog update. We have reached out to Optus for a reason why.

Update 2: Optus has advised they done goofed. In a statement to Ausdroid, an Optus representative said

I would like to apologise for this, as the team have informed me that this update was due to an admin error and was promptly removed.

I can confirm that the Huawei Mate 9 update has been deployed, however due to the similar names, there was an error on the description of the HTC One M9

Optus customers who purchased the HTC One M9 or the Huawei Mate 9 are getting a tasty treat with news that the Android 8.0 (Oreo) update is now available to your handsets.

The news comes courtesy of the Optus software update site which lists the update for both handsets as ‘Deployed’. The update for both devices includes the fix for the KRACK Wi-Fi security exploit which surfaced back in November.

The Oreo update for both handsets should include the usual Oreo features as well as a security update, though we’ve not seen an update screen from the update to check what month is included.

If you’ve got a Huawei Mate 9 or HTC One M9, head into the Settings > About Phone and check for an update – and be sure to share screenshots with us when you do.

OK, thought I could smell a rate with this. Optus have this afternoon Changed the wording on their Android update from deployed to this: ”
Android 8.0.0 platform update + KRACK, testing complete. ” So it would seem it wasn’t actually deployed, and now has to go back to Huawei

After a week still nothing here, and for 6 others I know all with Optus, all Mate 9. Interesting too on the Mate 9 thread on Whirlpool forum, nobody from Optus has the update either.

Pretty sad that HTC One M9, a 3 year old flagship from a company in dire financial straits, can push out the latest Android update faster than Samsung, the largest android OEM in the world who is swimming in money can for their flagship 2017 Galaxy S8 and Note 8 phones.
