The hotly anticipated Vodafone TV, the Android TV powered set top box has started arriving in Vodafone stores across Australia.
The Vodafone TV set top box is being offered by Vodafone as part of the expansion of their NBN plans, bundled with their $79 or $99 NBN plans for an additional $5 per month over 24 months or can be purchased separately from Vodafone for $120 up front. The Vodafone TV set top box comes with a bonus of 12 months of Netflix access when bundled with selected 24 month NBN plans.
The Vodafone TV box is powered by a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Amlogic S905D processor and has 2GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage with full 4K resolution video playback support. There’s built-in Wifi and an ethernet port as well as a DVB-T tuner and runs Android 7.1.1 (we’re still waiting to hear back about an update to Oreo).
The Vodafone TV has full support for Google Play, and you can use the included remote control with voice support built-in and dedicated YouTube and Netflix buttons as well.

Hi when you review could you please test if works with Foxtel now?
It won’t find the Foxtel app. So Vodafone might be blocking the app from showing up in google play? Its an interesting device though, as it uses Google Go so you can speak into the remote on what you want. And you can configure it via Google Go to your mobile. So setup is a breeze.
And unlike the TelstraTV this has a mute and volume control that TTV is seriously lacking.
Will try and find out why I can’t see any of the Foxtel apps?

It seems that the Foxtel Now app is not found. Rather than Vodafone blocking the app, it’s likely that Foxtel hasn’t whitelisted the box to be installed.

I’ve had mine for awhile now. Its not a bad little box.
It does need a couple of configurable options though. I would like to be able to block/delete TV channels and radio channels in the EPG. And be able to move the apps around to put most used at the front.
I also found the app Mezzmo to be the best for playing media over the network.
Oh, and together with the Castify app, it casts well from android mobile to the VTV.
