After debuting at Google I/O back in 2016, Google has announced the finalists for the third annual awards with the winners to be announced before the start of Google I/O next month.

The Google Play Awards recognise the top apps and games on Google Play, with nominees across nine categories announced, showcasing the best experiences across the range. Various teams across Google looked at the overall quality, design, technical performance, and innovation shown in the apps listed as nominees in each category. The categories and nominees include:

Google will announce the winners just before the start of Google I/O on May 7th US time.
