Huawei Australia this evening announced Australian pricing and availability for their hugely anticipated P20 Pro.

First, the big news – at $1,099 Huawei has brought the phone to the local market at a killer price. The European launch price of €849 had us concerned that the phone would be priced over $1,300 here.

However, if you’re looking to get in on the action you’ll have to be prepared to shell out all those dollaroos at once – the phone isn’t (at this point) heading to any Australian carriers.

You can expect some great specs for your hard-earned cash though, with the phone sporting 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage – far above similarly high profile phones at the same price point.

The P20 Pro is also the only place you’ll find the triple camera system co-designed by Leica and Huawei. It’s been turning heads with some amazing shots including a brilliant Night mode since the phone’s launch in March.

Be sure to check out our P20 Pro review for an in depth look at the phone, with a big focus on the camera – it really is something special.

The phone’s Twilight finish is stunning, and Ausdroid’s shiny blue review unit is FINE but feels a little less special by comparison.

The wait will soon be over, with the Huawei P20 Pro will be available in stores starting May 18. The phone will be available in Black or Twilight from JB Hi-fi and MobileCiti, while Harvey Norman will be stock the phone in Black. We highly recommend checking it out in person.

Have you been waiting for the P20 Pro? What do you think of the Australian pricing? Tell us in the comments.

It is a really good price. I got a Mate 10 Pro early this year from Optus. I am happy with the quality of the phone especially for the camera. Too bad I wouldn’t change my phone now. I will see if Huawei can make a even better the Mate 20.

Bargain … !!! Samsung and Apple need to reevaluate their pricing and profit structuring. I am definately contemplating a churn !!

Really

shame its not on Telstra, seems the falling out a few years ago still hasn’t been forgotten / resolved.

Do you reckon this phone will be offered by the local carriers?

Chris Rowland

At this stage, no. Huawei haven’t announced any launch carriers .. things may change later, but I’d say it’s unlikely.

I was very keen but I don’t have the money to pay up front. I can’t believe it’s not coming to any carriers at all.

Definitely going to get it and up grade from the Huawei nova 2i which is a brilliant phone in its own right. But the pricing of the Huawei P20 is perfect and will be getting it within the next few weeks.
