One of the most highly anticipated Android TV devices this year is the JBL LINK BAR, a combination Android TV set-top box and soundbar announced just prior to Google I/O. The soundbar has just gone up for pre-order in the US, but fear not it’s coming to Australia in October.

The JBL LINK Bar is up for pre-order at B&H Photo Video for USD$399.95 with shipping to Australia covered for USD$26, a total of USD$425.95 – around AUD$577 as a direct conversion. The LINK Bar is due to start shipping from B&H Photo Video on October 16th so it should reach Australia soon after if you want to pre-order it.

JBL Australia hasn’t announced any pricing for the LINK Bar in Australia as yet, but they did let us know when it was announced that they planned to bring it to Australia in October, which lines up perfectly with the launch date.

For those not familiar, the JBL LINK Bar runs Android TV while also delivering a big sound with 100W speakers included. The LINK Bar comes with Optical input as well as three HDMI-Inputs and a single Audio Return Channel (ARC) HDMI Output.

The LINK Bar is smart too, acting as a Google Assistant powered speaker with far-field microphones picking up your voice. The familiar LEDs for Google Assistant will shine out through the speaker grille when it hears your voice.

The JBL LINK Bar is a very intriguing proposition for those looking to pep up their home entertainment systems, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to see how much the official launch will be here in Australia. If you can’t wait then you can head over to B&H Photo Video to pre-order, but make sure you get a good adapter for the power cable.

    I’m after a new sound bar at the moment and I think I want this, but it’s hard to justify picking it over a (potentially) cheaper Samsung sound bar that comes with a sub woofer when I’ve already got a Samsung smart TV + Chromecast + Google Home combo in the lounge room.
    Anyone know if it sounds good? And is Android TV that much of a selling point when I’ve already got Netflix/Stan/YouTube apps on the TV and Localcast for local content?
