The very highly anticipated Huawei Mate 20 is finally getting some official attention from Huawei after the announcement of the core of the phone – the Kirin 980 processor. At the end of Huawei’s IFA event overnight, Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu also confirmed the Mate 20 will be unveiled in London on October 16th.

The Mate 20 has been slowly leaking with various details coming to light for the Mate 20 – and the expected Mate 20 Pro. The phones will be powered by the newly announced Kirin 980 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage. A massive 4,200 mAh battery could be powering the phones as well.

The rumours point to the Mate 20 series following in the footsteps of the P20 Pro with a triple rear camera array – though rumours say the phones will differ with the Mate 20 Pro getting a 40MP, 20MP and 8MP camera setup, while the Mate 20 will have a 12MP, 20MP and 8MP triple camera system.

We’ll be checking out the Huawei Mate 20 when it’s announced and with a powerful new processor, excellent camera pedigree and design to match, it’s shaping up to be a heck of a phone.
