It looks like Samsung has stepped onto the triple rear camera sensor bandwagon, though it’s not with their flagship Note or S-series handsets but their super mid-range A-series with the Galaxy A7 (2018) now official.

The phone has a premium 6.0-inch Super AMOLED FullHD+ (1080×2220) resolution display (with no notch) inside a premium glass body which will be available in four colours – blue, black, gold and pink. Rather than a rear mounted fingerprint sensor, Samsung has gone with a fingerprint sensor built-in to the side of the phone, embedding it into the power button.

The triple camera setup on the rear is comprised of a 24MP AF sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a secondary ultra wide 8MP sensor with a 120° field of View and f/2.4 aperture and a 5MP depth camera with f/2.2 aperture. The combination of sensors allows for a number of effects including Samsung’s Live Focus feature which gives you control of the depth of field letting you adjust for stunning bokeh effects, and Samsung’s intelligent Scene Optimizer, which categorises your subject and adjusts the color, contrast and brightness to instantly optimize image quality.

Your selfies won’t suffer either with a 24MP sensor on the front with an f/2.0 aperture.

There’s several different configurations in terms of RAM/Storage based on the region it’s being launched in, so we’ll have to wait for more information from Samsung Australia on this one.

Galaxy a7 (2018) 64GB is available in Switzerland with Duo Sim cards and micro sim for storage as are many Samsung phones sold here.
Not so on Australian phones. Why?

Has note on box that only European sim cards to be used on phone.
Price SF 359 about $A 506. Very reasonable.

I owned the galaxy a5 2017 it was an excellent midranger with awesome battery life, just hope the battery performance is as good with the 2018 model, not sure about the fingerprint sensor being located on the power button instead of the back, but so long as it works without having to scan your finger a dozen times before it unlocks i could live learn to live with it
