While some of us were hoping for surprises on stage in Paris in 10 days time it looks less and less likely to occur after the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro had their skirts lifted and specs revealed overnight. As expected they are mouth wateringly impressive.

Thanks to Roland Quandt and the folks at Winfuture we now have a look a the final specs of the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. This images we have seen before have once again been shown off, this time with a striking new colour, a Sunrise Red.

Both displays are notched the same way with a small teardrop style notch at the top. As you can see in the table below the P30 Pro sports the bigger display but both have the same 1080P resolution. As expected both will run a Kirin 980 and the RAM will be 6GB for the P30 and 8GB for the P30 Pro. The P30 will have 128GB of onboard storage and the P30 Pro will have options for 128, 256 and 512 GB of storage.

The camera information is much more sought after given their extreme proficiency in the camera department in recent years. Both will have a Leica rear camera setup and a 32MP front-facing camera – the P30 Pro will have a quad camera with one lens being a ToF lens but the P30 will not include this or the periscope zoom lens. The P30 Pro has a 10X hybrid zoom with a 7.8X periscope zoom lens (the square one) but the P30 does not. The P30 Pro will also have ToF capabilities, now becoming more popular with manufacturers.

Both the P30 will have a headphone jack and both phones will have in-display fingerprint sensors. Both will be IP68 water resistant and arrive with Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.1 over the top.

With only 10 days until Huawei take to the stage it will be interesting to see what they have to offer us. At this stage the software capabilities of the phones have not been revealed and in 2019 that is often where the differences lie from one phone to the next. Hopefully Huawei can pull a few rabbits out of their respective hats and surprise us then.

We are soon coming up to the time where Huawei’s willingness and ability to continually update multiple flagship ranges to new versions of Android will be on show. Let’s see if they internationalise Emui.

Ah would’ve hoped that silly NanoMemory card bullshit would have not continued…. We DO NOT NEED anymore memory card fragmentation… remember the mid 2000 era with the plethora of different Memory Card Types??? it was bizarre!
