There’s only a few days left until the inevitable unveiling of the Pixel 3a and 3a XL at Google IO 2019. It now seems the much-leaked device has had all of it’s innards exposed, leaving little left for Google to actually announce.

Thanks to a translated specs list, we have all but confirmed all of the internals of the Pixel 3a, with the 3a XL likely to be very similar.

There’s not much surprising in what’s been revealed; the highlights include a 5.6-inch FHD OLED display, full poly-carbonate body, Snapdragon 670 SOC, 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, the Titan security module, Active edge for Google Assistant, Stereo Speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack!!!

From an imaging perspective it looks like were getting the same 12.2 MP rear sensor as the Pixel 3, but no mention of the Pixel Core processing unit.

Without delay check out the specs below:

With the keynote just a few short days away and Google teasing that there will be hardware announced on stage, we wonder if there are any surprises left for the presentation?

While it’s good to see Google getting back into the mid-range, I wonder if it wouldn’t be better to just get a Pixel 2 rather than the 3a, since the specs would be better and the price likely about the same.

Adam

Pixel 2 XL is still $1000 at JB at least. The 3a XL, theoretically, might be around the $700 mark if the $479US is accurate.

A quick search shows $550-$750 new via grey-import from TobyDeals, Kogan, Dick Smith, etc. So the warranty might be the only selling point for the 3a over last years flagship.

Matt

6GB of RAM? Given the issues with memory management the current models are reported to have this could be the clincher.

Adam

Pixel 2 XL is $800-820 on Kogan and Dick Smith; a saving, but maybe not down to the 3a XL price. Conjecture on the price of the 3a of course; never heard of “TobyDeals” but doesn’t sound too reliable.
