Samsung announced the Galaxy S10 lineup just prior to MWC and we heard about a 5G variant in the works from Telstra themselves. Now, three months later, it is primed for release into the Australian market – from next week.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is an upgrade over their previous flagship, the S10+ in that it has a larger display (6.7-inch), a larger battery (4,500mAh) and an improved camera. The new camera setup in fact received the highest mark for a smartphone from DxOMark for both the front and rear camera setup.

Samsung are proud of the camera experience they have created with Garry McGregor, VP at Samsung Australia stating:

The Galaxy S10 5G is designed to perform at a level that we have never before seen in a Samsung device. From its 3D Depth Camera to 5G network capability, we’re delivering the ultimate in terms of innovation, design, and experience.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G will be the first smartphone capable of using the new Telstra 5G network to its fullest promising some very high download speeds at low latency — assuming you are in a Telstra 5G network area.

Telstra customers who purchased a Galaxy S10+ during the eligibility period earlier this year will be able to upgrade to the new Galaxy S10 5G at no extra cost. They will have three weeks from the 28th May to redeem this offer — and there is no reason not to, even if you are not currently in a 5G area.

The device will be available with 256GB or 512GB memory variants from May 28 through Telstra and Samsung Experience Stores. The phone will be available in Crown Silver for the 256GB variant and Majestic Black for the 256GB and 512GB variants.

For those who have not already purchased a Galaxy S10+ and will be getting the free upgrade plans and costs will be available next week. If you are one of those who purchased an S10+ from Telstra earlier in the year then on the 28th May head into a Telstra store to get your new Galaxy S10 5G.
