Come mid-year the H1 flagship races have all been run and done and eyes turn to the next race — the H2 flagships. Of the few phones that are released in the second half of the year one of the more significant and one that garners a lot of the attention is the Samsung Galaxy Note line.
This year the Galaxy Note10 is expected to arrive in two variants, one with and one without 5G connectivity. Overnight a couple of the Galaxy Note10 variants have appeared on benchmark site, Geekbench.
One variant, SM-N976V, appears to be arriving with 12GB of RAM along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor — the Qualcomm processor Samsung variants are usually the US-specific variants these days. We will most likely see the Exynos variant. The scores for this Note10 variant aren’t great but you would expect this to be very early prototype software, and it has been a long time since benchmarks were a relevant indication of the user experience.
The ‘V’ Note10 variant is expected to be the Verizon Note10 5G device but given the chipset arriving in the other variant this Qualcomm-toting SKU may not arrive here.
The other Note10 variant to show up on Geekbench is the SM-N976B SKU. This variant sports just 8GB of RAM and an Exynos 9825 processor — an upgrade on the 9820 that is in the Galaxy S10 series. This Exynos 9825 processor will be Samsung’s first 7nm chipset and will apparently include an integrated 5G modem. This is the one we expect to arrive on the Telstra network with 5G modem onboard.
All in all it looks to be an exciting time once again for phone lovers with Samsung finding their mojo again this year producing some great phones with great cameras. We expect the Note10 to follow suit.
