Back at MWC Samsung told us that their phones do not need a night mode instead relying on the superior hardware to produce decent images. Unfortunately real world testing showed that their night images were barely comparable to those manufacturers with a dedicated software Night Mode.

After rolling their new Night Mode out to the Galaxy S9 last week Samsung have begun rolling it out to the Galaxy Note 9 alongside the June security patch. The update is basically the same that arrived on the Galaxy S9 series of phones last week with it starting to arrive on German users’ devices.

The update, N960FXXU3CSF9, is a decent 704MB and brings with it not just Night Mode and the security patch but also other camera improvements as well such as the ability to scan QR codes without having to use Bixby Vision (Is Bixby being phased out?) by using a quick toggle in the quick settings pulldown.

It is unclear when this will land in Australia but you can expect the unlock, non-carrier purchased phones to receive the update first. It is yet to land on our Galaxy Note 9 but if you have one start checking for the update and let us know in the comments below if it does and if you notice any improvements.

Hoping it comes to Note 8

Night mode is pretty good, though Samsung needs to work on their white balance.

There’s also new animations for wired/wireless charging.
