While we’ve learned much about what the outside of Google’s Pixel 4 will look like, the insides remain a little bit more mysterious. We’ve seen a few leaks, but now as we get closer to October, there’s more details starting to emerge.
This morning, 9to5Google reports some further information about what’s going to be inside the new Pixel 4 range. The first thing to know is that there’s more similarities between the phones than differences; they’re both phones, with glass front and back, and a large square camera bump on the rear. There’s top bezel on the front, including a Project Soli sensor reportedly), as well as the rest of the ‘typical’ phone stuff.
Of more interest is the details to follow. First up, 5.7-inch and 6.3-inch displays in the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL respectively. Both will be OLED technology, with a Full HD+ resolution on the Pixel 4, and Quad HD+ on the Pixel 4 XL.
Both displays will run at 90 Hz, which Google dubs “smooth display” technology. This means they’re joining a select few other phones with the same high refresh rate such as those from Razer.
Other rumoured specifications include the cameras – a 12MP and 16MP camera pairing, with phase detection autofocus on the 12MP side, and a telephoto lens on the 16MP side. More curiously, there’s rumour Google may release a DSLR-like attachment… though what that looks like or offers, who knows!
Battery capacities have also been leaked – 2,800 mAh for the smaller Pixel 4 and 3,700 mAh on the larger phone. Both devices will include Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 64 / 128GB variants.
This all sounds rather good for Google’s Pixel 4, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the final product looks like in a month or two.
