It seems like it was only yesterday that the OPPO Reno was released in Australia while that may not be far from the truth it is nearly five months since it was actually announced. By that measure, considering that most successful phone manufacturers bring out two flagships per year, it is about time to announce another — the OPPO Reno2 is set to be unveiled.

There have been many leaks surrounding the OPPO Reno2 and at first they were contradictory but it seems that there will be, at a minimum, three different versions of the Reno2 — all targeted at a different price point/market segment.

This weekend there has been several different leaks of the Reno2 showing not just the specs but also the device in the wild. HackerSimar sent out a tweets of the OPPO Reno2 Z and the Reno2 in the wild — at what appears to be an industry event. Check out the images below:

As you can see from the pictures above there appears to be, once again, the lack of a notch and interestingly a quad rear camera on both of the models. So what is the difference between all the models? Luckily we have also seen leaks appear at 91Mobiles showing the various models and their specs:

According to these spec leaks the Reno2 will have a 6.55 inch dynamic AMOLED display powered by a Snapdragon 730G processor (which is a strange decision considering the rest of the specs), 8GB of RAM and 250GB of onboard storage. Powered by a 4,000mAh battery it will house a quad camera setup of 48MP, 8MP, 13MP and 2MP and hybrid zoom of 5x and digital zoom of 20x. The shark fin selfie camera is once again included.

The OPPO Reno2 Z sports a 6.53 inch AMOLED display with a similar quad camera setup (48MP, 8MP, 2MP and 2MP) but will be powered by a Mediatek Helio P90 processor and 8GB of RAM. This version will have a pop-up camera similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro and not the shark fin camera.

As if that wasn’t enough there is also a Reno2 F model which will also sport a 6.53 inch AMOLED display with the same popup camera and rear camera setup. It will differ from the Reno2 Z with a Snapdragon 710 processor and just 6GB of RAM.

So that makes three models of the OPPO Reno2 that we will see in the coming days and weeks. It is interesting that none of them are a pure premium flagship based on the specs leaked here today. We suspect that they are only going to release one fully-specced premium flagship each year and then the rest of the year bank on that name with slightly lower specced models of the flagship released the rest of the year.

It would not surprise us to see at least one of these mid-range models arriving here in Australia. We will of course let you know if and when it does.
