Huawei has already confirmed its Kirin 990 chipset will launch at IFA 2019, and will be the headline announcement of its press conference to be held tomorrow, 6 September.

The new chipset will give us an insight into what Huawei has been working on, at a particular challenging time for the company as it faces increasing pressure from the US. The Kirin 990 will feature inside the upcoming Mate 30, the P40 series next year, and also likely the Mate X which should re-launch towards the end of the year.

The talk is the new Kirin 990 will include 5G capabilities on-chip – this was discussed by Huawei in a teaser video not that long ago:

Alongside the Kirin 990, we expect to hear more about the Mate X launch, and perhaps some new wearables. There’s bound to be other announcements too, as Huawei Consumer business group CEO Richard Yu likes to make a bit of a splash. There’s bound to be some market share talk too.
