With so many streaming services and movies coming out, it can be difficult to find something interesting to watch these days. Google have realised this and have now begun rolling out a new feature called “what to watch” TV and movie recommendations that are powered by a simple swipe via a Google search on mobile.
The new feature helps you to find the content you want to watch by simply either swiping left to dislike or right to like a particular show or movie – think like the Tinder app essentially.
The new feature appears when you search for things such as “what to watch” or “good shows to watch” directly from your mobile smartphone or tablet.
Furthermore, in a blog post, Google has also detailed how searching for “not-so-specific” movie genres will get a bit easier. For example, if you search for something like “horror movies from the 1980s,” it will bring up the available options to fit the criteria, whether through rental or streaming sites such as Netflix.
Starting today in the US, when you search for things like “good shows to watch” or “what to watch” on mobile, you can tap the start button in the “Top picks for you” carousel to begin rating TV shows and movies. Swipe left or right on a few shows and movies, and come back any time you want to help improve your recommendations
It is important to note, that the “what to watch” feature is only available in the USA, with the company not providing any additional countries or availability timeframes.
