In 2019, just as it has been for a few years now, vast supply chains have made it virtually impossible for a company to keep a product secret. As such some companies decide to get on the front foot and show off their devices first — OnePlus have done that today.

Via their online community forum and various social media channels OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has not only described their design process but also unveiled the final product to the world.

On the forum Pete described how they thought about their design concept in a sense that the comfortable touch and feel was a way to make the “entire user experience elevated”. Not only that but that have expanded on their previous matte glass finish on the OnePlus 7 Pro with a new “smooth matte surface with a brilliant metallic radiance” on the OnePlus 7T.

The other change you may see above is the circular rear camera module. We have seen other phones recently leak with a circular rear camera module and it seems that OnePlus are doing the same with the OnePlus 7T. Replacing the vertical oval housing the three rear camera lenses will be a black circle which inside it will have the lenses aligned horizontally across the phone.

It’s an incredibly important piece of the design puzzle, so we’ve completely reimagined the camera housing for our upcoming flagship. The camera should make a bold visual statement, but also flow naturally with the overall design for a seamless appearance.

All of the above design choices were not made lightly with OnePlus going through over fifty different design iterations before finalising it with the design above. With not long to wait now the hype is building for the new OnePlus flagship launching next week on September 26 (EDT) for a phone that is once again set to wow users everywhere.
