Rumours have been circulating for years about Google releasing their own smartwatch, a Pixel Watch. Another rumour has surfaced today speculating that next week at the Made By Google event that we may actually see the Pixel Watch unveiled.

According to the Nikkei Asian Review sources (not just one) have told them that at the event next week Google will unveil not just two new smartphones (Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL) but possibly a “new smart watch and notebook too”. We have seen strong suggestions and leaks pointing towards a new Pixelbook so it would not surprise us in the least if the last bit was correct.

We have not seen Pixel Watch rumours for a while now and given all the leaks of every single other Google product it seems strange that if Google were to announce a new smartwatch that we haven’t seen any hint of it.

If Google does indeed release a Pixel Watch you had better hope they do the opposite of what they do with the phones — they will need to put the highest specs in it as possible given that the first gen specs have shown to be inadequate. Fossil with their 5th gen smartwatches are showing that WearOS is usable at least with twice the RAM and the new Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor. Hopefully Google stick to this.

With the event scheduled for Wednesday morning at 1am next week (AEDT) you can be sure we will be hoping for Google’s own version of “one more thing” and the pop out a new smartwatch. After years of hoping for it and never seeing it materialise though I am extremely sceptical that Google will finally launch one.

Yeah can’t say I’m overly optimistic. Considering the amount of leaks around the phones, how the hell would they have kept a watch under wraps?

If they do announce one, I’ll eat my hat. Have been hoping for one for years but can’t see it happening to be honest
