You might not be able to easily install Google’s Mobile Services (and thus Play Store) on a new Huawei Mate 30 Pro, but that’s not the only option going to get some of the commonly used apps you might need.

Unless you’re using an Amazon tablet, you might’ve forgotten that Amazon Appstore exists, but it does, and better yet, it’s full of the kinds of apps most users would want on a Huawei Mate 30 Pro without Google.

The best bit? You don’t need to do anything tricky to install it. There’s no need to follow guides, install weird Chinese-language apps, or activate device administrators. Just visit the Amazon Appstore URL on your Mate 30 Pro, install the APK, and off you go.

Download the Amazon Appstore here.

What kind of apps can you find there? Well, from a quick look, you can find apps like:

  • Social media
    • Facebook
    • Facebook Messenger
    • Twitter
    • Instagram
    • Pinterest
    • Skype
  • Media apps
    • Spotify
    • TuneIn
    • Plex
    • Twitch
    • Apps to play YouTube videos (though, not YouTube itself)
    • Amazon Music
  • Office and Productivity
    • Outlook 365
    • OfficeSuite Free
    • Dropbox
    • PDF Reader
    • ES File Explorer
    • NordVPN

Of course, there are many more, but these are some of the highlights that stood out to me. There are a couple of things notably missing, such as Netflix, and (obviously) any of Google’s apps. However, there’s some alternatives for most of these, which might just get you where you need to be.

It’s also worth noting that most of these are not available on Huawei’s App Gallery, so the Amazon Appstore is a great way to install legitimate versions of apps safe in the knowledge that they’re not in some way compromised.

Of course, you can download most of the above apps (and many, many more) from untrusted 3rd party websites, but if you’re at all concerned about the safety and security of your phone, then you probably won’t want to do that.

If that’s a bit too restrictive for you, and you don’t mind following a bit of a process to get Google apps and services working, then why not try our guide on Installing Google Mobile Services core on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro?
