With the imminent release of the final (possibly, who knows really) Star Wars movie – Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – on December 19th, Disney has teamed up with Facebook to get fans of the movies into an intergalactic spirit with limited edition features for Facebook’s Messenger app that include a chat theme, stickers and AR effects, all launching on December 12th.
Users can, for example, can choose from a Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker chat themes in messenger which include an all-new chat theme and reaction emojis of all of your favourite heroes and villains from the franchise.
There are also various AR effects which include a “jump to light-speed” effect AR, which gives you the ability to move at speeds only available in the movie, along with the ability to visualise what it’s like to be part of the Resistance and glide through the galaxies in Poe Dameron’s X-Wing with the Cockpit effect. Finally, you can experience what it’s like to join the battle of the Dark vs. Light side of the Force by picking from Dark vs. Light effect.
So if you’re an absolute fan of the Star Wars franchise and cannot wait for Star Wars: the Rise of Skywalker, and after at least a small taste of what’s to come, simply fire up your Facebook Messenger app open a Messenger thread and tap the name of the thread (or message as we like to call it) at the top and then select “theme” where you’ll find the Star Wars chat theme.
