OPPO have been pushing hardware boundaries in recent years and the phone that many are looking for to push these hardware innovations to customers is the Find X2. Find series phones have always been known for their innovative hardware and this year it should be no different with the Find X2, due soon.

Today’s leak “confirms” what OPPO VP Brian Shen suggested last year — that the Find X2 would have a better display than its predecessor. Well, of course it will, it is over 18 months since the Find X was released.

The leak today suggests that the Find X2 will have a 120Hz refresh rate display that will be QHD+ — at all refresh rates, unlike the Galaxy S20 which is rumoured to drop the resolution when operating at 120Hz.

The display will be a 3168 x 1440 curved AMOLED display manufactured by Samsung measuring 6.5 inches and will have a single hole punch in the top left of the display for the selfie camera — a let down and backwards step IMO from the innovative selfie camera on the original Find X but it is possible they wanted the punch hole to get an IP rating, something not possible with a pop-up camera it seems.

OPPO have their hardware game on point these days and that is expected to continue throughout the entire device — we expect a quad rear camera, a Snapdragon 865 with X55 5G modem along with a heap of RAM and on board storage.

This could, and hopefully will be, the year OPPO finally lift their software to the levels that match their hardware, especially with their camera software. Their phones’ imaging have been good but not great, not in the Samsung and Huawei league but that us the next level for OPPO — if they are wishing to fill the void left by Huawei and their troubles they will need to take that next step forwards with photography.

Do you think OPPO will be able to take the next step with the Find X2? Is it a phone you would be interested in purchasing?
